Where do you keep your cell phone? If I have to answer that question, I’ll have to admit that most of the time I keep it in my trouser pockets. Is this responsible?
We live in a generation where we need technology all of the time. We use it for personal purposes or for work. We use wireless devices, such as cell phones, and we’re frequently exposed to radio-frequency radiation (RFR).
There has already been a lot of research about the consequences of being exposed to RFR. To be honest, we can’t yet tell for sure what it will do to us, humans. After doing experiments on rodents, mice, rats and humans, we have a good first indication of what we’re up against.
To begin with, a series of studies suggested that exposure to RFR increases the risks of brain tumors. The symptoms tend to increase with people who use their phone a lot as well as with people who use it over and over again on the same side of their body. Also, your chance at getting cancer gets bigger when you are exposed at an earlier age. Likewise, they did a study on four groups of men. One group did not use cell phones. They found DNA damage indicators in hair follicle cells in the ear canal in the 3 groups that did use their cell phones.1
Finally, a case series highlights potential cancer risk from cell phones carried close to the body. In fact, they report 4 “extraordinary” breast cancers that came to light directly under the antennae of the cell phones, often carried within the bra. They all appeared on the breastbone. That is the opposite of where breast cancer cells normally appear.
Other studies, focusing on children and reproduction, found that the long-term risks from exposure to RFR for children are expected to be much greater, with greater cancer risks in later life. Together with addictive behavior, which has been shown to be associated with emotional and behavioral disorders. For the men among you, it is a better idea to not put your cell phones in your trouser pockets, granted that there’s an association between keeping it in your trouser pocket and lower sperm quantity and quality. In other words, doing this decreases the semen volume and the sperm concentration.
Also, the use of cell phones causes headaches, fatigue, loss of appetite and insomnia.
Given these points, you might consider using your cell phone less for your own good, because studies show that indeed it can slowly kill you!
